I have created a ScreenCast presentation in order to show college students some resources for online counseling or therapy, as well as where to find some affordable in-office therapists and clinics. I discuss Better Help, Talk Space and Crissy Milazzo’s “youfindtherapy.com” website. I intend for this video to serve as a good baseline for a student’s research into what options are available to them as someone who might not have much in terms of time and money.
I expect users to find my video through the tags I put on my video when uploading it to Youtube. I included terms such as “mental health” and “college” which are widely searched in hopes of drawing in new visitors to my channel and ultimately my website. Users will also be able to find my video on my website, as I have embedded it above. In Christine T. Wolf’s “DIY Videos on Youtube: Identity and possibility in the age of algorithms,” she discusses her findings after interviewing users who watched DIY Youtube videos. The participants stated that the “videos were seen as helpful, even if participants ultimately did not attempt the DIY work depicted,” (Wolf). I think my video will be helpful, even if my users do not attempt making accounts with these different websites, as it will still supply them with knowledge about the subject as a whole, and what options they have if they intend on moving forward in the process later.
